Fond of long nails ? here is the trick

What are nails composed of ?

Fingernails are  made up of  laminated layers of a protein called keratin, grow from the area at the base of the nail under your cuticle. Healthy fingernails are smooth, without pits or grooves. They’re uniform in color and consistency and free of spots or discoloration.

Do’s for healthy nail

Healthy and long nails are every girls desire . To have healthy nail is not necessarily expensive . It certainly doesn’t only require manicure always .Being overly aggressive with cleaning and maintaining nails might actually put your normally strong nails at risk for yeast or bacterial infections. . Some simple tips can give you your dream nails .

  1. Have a healthy and varied diet

As long as you eat a healthy and varied diet, you don’t need any dietary supplements to guarantee strong nails. Have a diet rich in calcium to have strong nails .

     2. Keep fingernails dry and clean.

This prevents bacteria from growing under your fingernails. Repeated or prolonged contact with water can contribute to split fingernails. Wear cotton-lined rubber gloves when washing dishes, cleaning or using harsh chemicals.

  1. Use biotin

People with weak nails may benefit from supplemental biotin, a B-vitamin. Biotin has been shown to be helpful for strengthening and growing nails.

  1. Wear nail-polish

Wearing nail polish protects our nail , although we need to give our nails break from the polish frequently. Make sure you choose acetone-free nail polish remover when you decide to begin that break. Wear gloves for better nail care , such as when doing household chores , to protect the polish and keep dirt out of your nails.

  1. Moisturize cuticles

Cuticles are a protective shield for nails . It is the natural barrier to fungus and bacteria and once you breach that, protection is lost.If you cut them back too far or push them around too aggressively, you damage them. That, in turn, leaves your nail bed open to infection. Moisturizing cuticles instead of pushing them back or trimming them , even during a professional manicure. Be aware of the signs of infection, including redness, pain, swelling, and even pus in your cuticles and the nearby skin. If found any sign of infection don’t forget to see your doctor.

  1. File nails correctly

Not using nail filer correctly can cause small fissures and cracks that lead to breakage and tears. The correct way to use a filer is to file in one direction only, and do it slowly and evenly to reduce risk of breakage. File nails with a smooth, fine file and don’t saw back and forth.

  1. Avoid too much hand-washing and contact with chemicals

It is healthy to wash your hands ,but too much of it can wreak havoc with your nails. If you are in a profession where frequent hand washing is mandatory then use moisturizer as often as possible and rub a little extra around the cuticles several times a day.

When doing housework or laundry, minimize contact with harsh chemicals, including dish-washing liquid, by wearing rubber gloves whenever possible.

  1. Choose nail tips over full extensions.

Nail extensions are bad news for nails, frequently leading to fungal or even bacterial infection and sometimes to permanent damage. If you have to wear nail extensions,  opt for just tips. While they can still cause problems, the potential for damage is less since the surface area covered is smaller.

Don’ts in order to take care of your nails :

1. Bite your fingernails or pick at your cuticles.

These habits can damage the nail bed. Even a minor cut alongside your fingernail can allow bacteria or fungi to enter and cause an infection.

2.Use harsh nail care products.

Limit your use of nail polish remover. When using nail polish remover, opt for an acetone-free formula.

3.Pull off hangnails.

You might rip live tissue along with the hangnail. Instead, carefully clip off hangnails.

4.Ignore problems.

If you have any kind of nail problem that doesn’t seem to go away on its own or is associated with other signs and symptoms, consult your doctor or dermatologist as soon as possible.

  1. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be actually something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
